Which database should I use?
Answer
If you use the OneSearch box on the library homepage, you will be searching most of the databases the library subscribes to.
If you take a look at our A-Z Databases page, you will see all of the databases the library subscribes to - including some that are not available in OneSearch - as well as Open Access databases the library recommends.
If you are not sure where to start, you can search a database that is flagged Works for Any Topic - as of this writing, EBSCOhost Academic Search Complete and JSTOR.
If you know you need a primary source, you can use the "type" dropdown list to only view databases that include them. If you know you need a newspaper article, you can use the "type" filter for that too.
You can also add the "subjects" dropdown list to filter databases by the topic your research is in.
And if you would like individual help with finding the right database for your research, SCC librarians are happy to help you via chat, email, phone, appointment, or in person.
